The Three Lil’ Birds is a 509 Jeanneau Sailboat My mom named the boat Three Lil’ Birds. The boat is named after the Bob Marley song, called Three Little Birds. My mom used to sing it to me when I was a baby. There are also three people in my family. We got a 50 Jeanneau sailboat because it was a good fit for my dad's height since he is tall and can’t stand up in a smaller boat. We also liked it because the beds were big. I even have my own air conditioner that I didn’t have in my house.
The 50 Jeanneau sailboat can travel to the Bahamas and other places. But it can’t travel into shallow water, because it has a big keel. We bring our dinghy into shallow water to get off to an island. We leave our boat after we anchor it. We lock the boat with a key, like a house door. Our sailboat has three bedrooms. One of the bedrooms belongs to my mom and dad and has a bathroom. The other bedroom is mine and also has a bathroom. Patch has his doggy bed next to mine right outside the bathroom. The third bedroom is for storage and the bedroom is a backup in case anyone wants to sleep on our boat with us.
The front of the boat is where the anchor is found. At the back of the boat is where we sit, steer, and get off. Upstairs, we also have a table, rope, and under seat storage. I love my boat because it is pretty cool.
Fun Facts: ¾ of all sailboats are made in France. Sailboats are slow (but efficient) because they use the wind. Sailing gives you access to places that are off-limits to tourists. Sailing has been a part of the Olympics from 1896 onwards. The average salinity of oceans is 3.5%- but it varies greatly.
